Seasonal Teaching: The Inner Sun & The Awakened Brain

“Spirituality is a natural, innate capacity of the human brain. It’s not outside of us—it’s built into us.”
— Dr. Lisa Miller, The Awakened Brain

As the sun reaches its highest arc in the sky, we’re invited to awaken our own inner light—not just with energy, but with clarity. Not just with movement, but with meaning.

This month, we explore the idea that true vitality doesn’t come from doing more—it comes from remembering what we are connected to.

🌀 Spirituality Is a Mental Health Practice

Dr. Lisa Miller’s research shows that people with an active spiritual life—whether rooted in nature, intuition, prayer, creativity, or direct communion with something greater—have:

  • Stronger emotional resilience

  • Lower rates of depression

  • Greater clarity and decision-making

  • A deeper sense of belonging and purpose

This isn’t about religion. It’s about direct connection. A relationship with the sacred, however you define it.

You don’t have to believe in something outside yourself—
You only need to tune into something greater than the thinking mind.

Whether it’s through ceremony, meditation, dreams, drumming, or simply walking barefoot in the grass, these are not just rituals. They are neural rewirings. They’re a form of remembering who you really are—and that you’re not alone.

🌿 Ayurveda + Summer = Pitta Season

In Ayurvedic wisdom, this season is ruled by Pitta dosha—the element of fire and water.

You may feel:

  • More driven or intense

  • Quick to overheat emotionally or physically

  • Prone to irritability or perfectionism

  • Energized… but also scattered or burned out

When this energy is balanced, it brings:

  • Passion, purpose, clarity

  • Motivation to take action

  • Strong digestion (of food and life!)

But when it builds up ungrounded, we lose touch with our heart—and with our softness.

💡 Practices to Nourish the Mind & Soul This Month:

  • Practice soft focus—gazing at candlelight, nature, or the sky

  • Journal from your higher self: What am I here for?

  • Connect with water: baths, lakes, cool compresses

  • Read or reflect on The Awakened Brain or other spiritual texts

  • Practice the June Sacred Light, Sacred Waters Ceremony

  • Let yourself rest without guilt

This season, we invite you to burn away only what’s false.
And to nourish what is deeply, truly alive in you.

Let the light within be bright—but not blinding.
Let it be sacred, sustainable, and yours.
